Our Mission
At Clavis Publishing, children are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that tomorrow’s world will reflect the dreams of today’s children. Therefore, it's our mission to make their lives as colorful and beautiful as possible.
With books, children discover the big world from the safety of their own environments. In warm reading moments, they learn about life, about big and small emotions, and about the world around them. Reading together strengthens the bond between parents and children, sparks imagination, and expands vocabulary. At Clavis Publishing, we believe in the power of reading, so we’ll do everything we can to make children love books.
Our History
In 1978, Philippe Werck opened a children’s bookstore in his hometown of Hasselt, Belgium. Shortly thereafter, he decided to publish the books he wanted to place on his shelves. This is how Clavis Publishing originated. Now, over forty years later, with over two hundred titles published annually, Clavis, meaning ‘key’ in Latin, has unlocked the doors to their divisions in Amsterdam (2001) and New York (2008) as well.
